Welcome to Microthalassia’s new website and blog. I plan to post interesting news here on algae – HABs, species, synopses of recent publications – but other less plankton-oriented things may appear if I feel inspired.
The website has been a long time coming, so I hope you look around and check it out. We have an image gallery, with some of our best plankton species shots, and a video gallery featuring swimming algae and more (the Noctiluca and Heterosigma clip is pretty entertaining), and of course the Microthalassia Learning Centre, which will have online courses on phytoplankton sampling, analysis, and identification. The courses aren’t quite ready for public access yet, but I’ll send out messages on twitter (@HeadHAMPster), Facebook (Harmful Algae Monitoring Program), and email when they are up and operational.
So stay tuned, as they say in the music business. Interested in phytoplankton and harmful algal blooms? This is a great place to visit.
